Atlas vs ServiceNow ITAM
A lighter alternative to ServiceNow ITAM
ServiceNow ITAM manages the full hardware, software and cloud asset lifecycle on the ServiceNow platform, connected to the CMDB and procurement, and is sold on quote to large enterprises. Atlas covers the same commercial ground for multi-property groups at a fraction of the implementation weight, priced per property per year. Atlas is built by Sulayo, a Dubai product studio.
What does ServiceNow ITAM cover?
ServiceNow describes IT Asset Management as managing the full lifecycle of hardware, software and cloud assets on the ServiceNow platform, automating workflows from purchasing through inventory, deployment, servicing and retirement, and connecting to the CMDB and procurement for visibility across the organisation. It is a module of a large platform rather than a standalone product, and pricing is by quote.
Why would a hotel group choose Atlas instead?
Because the cost of ServiceNow is rarely the licence alone. A ServiceNow ITAM programme typically means an implementation partner, a CMDB to populate and maintain, a platform administrator, and a project measured in quarters. A group of fifteen hotels with a small central IT team often cannot staff that, and the parts it actually needed were chargeback, contract renewals and a board-ready view of spend. Atlas ships those without a platform underneath them.
Where ServiceNow is genuinely stronger
In almost every direction that depth is measured. ServiceNow has a mature CMDB, deep discovery and integration, software licence compliance at enterprise scale, cloud cost management, a global partner ecosystem, and support arrangements Sulayo cannot match as two people in Dubai. An organisation already running ServiceNow for ITSM should almost certainly add the ITAM module rather than buy a separate tool: the data model and the workflows are already there, and a second system means a second version of the truth.

Questions people ask
Is Atlas a lightweight ServiceNow ITAM alternative?
For a multi-property group, yes, in the sense that Atlas delivers the commercial outcomes without a platform implementation underneath. It is not a like-for-like replacement: ServiceNow does considerably more, and organisations that need what it does should buy it rather than a smaller product that will disappoint them.
We already use ServiceNow for tickets. Should we still look at Atlas?
Probably not for asset management, no. If ServiceNow is already in place and the CMDB is populated, adding the ITAM module keeps one version of the truth and Sulayo would say so plainly. The case for Atlas is strongest where ServiceNow is not already there and the group does not want to take on a platform to get chargeback and renewals.
How long does Atlas take to get running?
Atlas is a hosted product with no platform to stand up first, and a pilot is normally run on a single property so a group can see its own data before committing the portfolio. The honest constraint is not the software but the state of the group's contract and asset records, which is usually where the time goes.
Does Atlas have a CMDB?
No, and it does not claim one. Atlas holds an asset inventory with lifecycle, IP address management and the contracts and budgets attached to it, which serves a mid-size estate well. It does not model configuration items and their dependencies the way a CMDB does, and an organisation that needs that should be looking at ServiceNow.
How current are these ServiceNow details?
They were taken from ServiceNow's own published product pages and checked on 2 September 2026. ServiceNow does not publish ITAM pricing, so nothing here states a figure for it.
